Day 24 - A picture of something you wish you could change

Apart from my constant need of changing my hairstyle, I'd love to change my teeth.
Make them more straight and a bit whiter.
I know there are ways how to change that, but they are totally unavailable for me. Thanks to my ancestors, I have genetically bad teeth and some illnesses connected with them. So it's not like I'd be the bad girl who doesn't brush her teeth or doesn't take care of them. I am working on it :D

When it comes to braces, my dentist told me that in order to make 2 of my teeth straight, she'd need to take out 6 teeth. And she said that she doesn't want me to get through this, because it will be nasty. Secondly, if I'd like to make my teeth brighter, I would have to give up coffee and tea (nooooo I would never be able to do that!!!) and also the methods wouldn't cooperate with other things my "teeth health" is currently experiencing.

Ah well :D

Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book.

It simply has to be Tuntematon sotilas by finnish author Väinö Linna, published in 1953.

Not that I would be a huge fan of war novels, but I got bored of Remarque (nevermind how great his books are). At the time I found t his book

The book is describing life of a machinegun company during WW2.
It is basically a description of the whole nation of Finland in this "microcosmos" of a group of soldires. Each and everyone has a different background or political attitude, it causes some conflicts but yet they are able to go together through the horrors of war.

They die, they go on, they say farewell to the dead mates and they welcome new friends.

It is a very touching book, but not your typical war novel. It has this certain spirit that no other book about WW2 has.

Not to mention the book was very popular and in few years after it was released, a movie was made. It was also very successfull, cinemas were really full for that time. Re-make of the original movie was made in 1985 (but it wasn't as successfull as the original). In Finland they show both movies (one every second year) on their Independence day (December 6).

Day 21 - A picture of something you wish you could forget

Well, this was painful.
Badly put needle when I was giving blood for a blood test. Caused this enormous bruise (it actually got bigger than you see on the picture) and pain in my arm so big I could barely move it or bend it properly. I was out of order for cca 3 weeks.

25. 3. 2011

Day 20 - A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel

Kvívík, Faroe Islands.
There is a 900years old viking village and this specific building is an "igloo" used as a hotel.
Well, not only Kvívík, but all Faroe Islands would be amazing experience...

Whatever may go wrong, goes

As usual, anyway.

So today I was supposed to have a presentation about assertivity with other 2 girls. Even though we started working on it a bit late, we felt like we're perfectly fine with what we managed to do in such a short period of time and we were pretty confident about it.

Today, as I was about to leave the house, my phone rang. It was my mom calling me that the metro line I need to use in order to get to school, is out, because someone decided to kill himself. M'kaaaay, so I quickly switched on the internet to find out another way to school. Found a few ways, but I already knew I'm going to be very much late for the presentation. My only hope was that one of the girls is going to be even later than me.

Meanwhile, of course, the metro was all allright.

So I got myself to school 35 minutes later and after I apologized, the professor said that the third girl, Míša, won't possibly make it on time, according to what she wrote to the last girl on our team, Markéta. Therefore she said that after the lesson we shall get a new topic for the presentation.

But what was my surprise when Míša appeared 15  minutes before the end.
We were asked if we are going to give the presentation a try, or just give it up and get a new topic.

"My god, why? We were working on this, we're going to present it to you."

But, of course, as majority of the stuff has already been said by our professor, we didn't want to repeat ourselves that much and the time was ticking, the presentation that was planned on 20 minutes came out much shorter - 10 minutes. Ah my.

We were given another choice:
to get half of the points since it was half the time, or get a new topic anyway. After hearing how much points we have so far, we decided that we won't take those 10 offered points (as the presentation was worth those max. 20) and we'll rather make a new one, where we can get more points than those "10 for pity and effort".

What can I say, it was a set of unfortunate events, I can't blame anyone from it. Or maybe I can, that person who jumped under the train.. but I know I wasn't the only one who was affected by this. Actually, on one hand I understand that person. If I'd like to piss off lots of people, I'd jump under the metro. Since it's a pain in the arse to find way to your final station when the only route you know is unavailable :D

Day 19 - A picture of you when you were little

23. 3. 2011

Day 18 - A picture of your biggest insecurity

...because sometimes I feel I have none and I lack the confidence and skills to have an interesting and successfull one.

21. 3. 2011

Day 16 - A picture of someone who inspires you

There will be more people:

1) Fritz Lang

2) Victor Sjöström

3) Franz Marc

Those men inspire me, even though I probably won't make such amazing movies or do such wonderful paintings as they had, but.. still. Their works are huge source of inspiration for me.

20. 3. 2011

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die.

Velká Pardubická steeplechase.

I want to experience it.

And I don't care if I would be there only as a visitor.
Would be amazing to take as breathtaking pictures as the one I posted.
Or just be one of the 20 brave jockeys to race in this wonderful maddness.

Theatre

After like 2 years, I am finally going to the theatre again!
I am looking forward, to be honest. And the more, because the play I am going to see is William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar".

Joy!

Finally some czech theatre decided to make it. This has always been my favorite Shakespeare's play and I was lucky enough to get one of the last tickets. I was thinking of going alone, because my sister isn't that much into this kind of theatre (I think), but then my mom said it's been a long time since she has been in a theatre.

16th of April, here I go! Looking forward!

16. 3. 2011

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate

Funny.
I googled the term "dumb people" and this picture was one of them. Well, I guess then this person represents also other things I hate - ignorance, pointless money spending, spolied brats, wannabe celebrities. And so.

15. 3. 2011

Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most messed up things with

Ajuška.

Met one summer in western Bohemia and since then a roller coaster of messed up things started.
For example:

  • at 10pm we went 5km just to have a swim in the lake (we were 12 years at that time)
  • grabbed a box of cactus juice, a bottle of Becherovka and went on a walk through the whole city of Karlovy Vary
  • after a couple of hot wines and beers we were making angry kitty noises in Prague metro
  • randomly decided we're going to spend New Year's in a scandinavian country - me in Finland, Ajuška in Sweden (that picture is from the airport)
  • had a blast on two great neofolk events in Prague
and many more, I just can't remember them!

14. 3. 2011

Meh

I'm like.. meh. All around.

Hardly any sleep, some doubts, then hopes, then meeting a "friend" who threw me under the bus (rhetorically) 2 years ago and now that friend behaved like we haven't seen each other for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages and the we must go somewhere soooooon because she missed me sooooo much (when she never had any intention to pivk up the phone and call me and stuff) yeah yeah yeah.

And still some doubts.
I shall most possibly hide inside my shell and wait there until the very end of time.

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

myself.

13. 3. 2011

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh

One summer afternoon with my sister and our second guineapig Kimi in a park.
Fun times :)

12. 3. 2011

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

It's not an item, not even mine, but she is very dear to me and if it was in my strenghts and abilities and possibilities, she would be mine and noone would ever do any more harm to her.

10. 3. 2011

Shall I go platinum blonde?

You know I've always had red hair.
Or orange.
Or ginger, tizian, ruby, cherry, you say it, that shade of red/orange has most probably been on my head once.

But as I dye my hair quite frequently, people tend to guess my original hair color and they usually go for this honey-ash blond, as I am probably the original blonde type and I have nearly invisible eyebrows.
So I was thinking I shall "reveal my true hair color" and bleach my hair to be nearly white :D

It would cost money, it will take time, but I think that in the end I will just pour some red hair dye over bleached hair to get more vibrant and bright red.
Hopeless?

A bit.

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite memory.

Year 1998.
7 years of my age.
My first horse riding "lesson" on a big horse.

It was taken by my dad few moments before the horse stood on his back legs, I fell down and he kicked me with his back legs to my head.
I don't know if it looked really that horrible as everyone was describing, I only remember some blood going from my head, but I wanted to get back on the horse as fast as I could to show him I am not afraid of him and no matter what happens, I am going to finish this first lesson.
Only later when I got to the bathroom I saw how much blood there is on me, I started crying and freaking out.

It is not a particularly happy memory, but when I feel that something I am currently going through is going to destroy me, I always think of that day.
I managed to get back "on the horse" and survived. I guess it made me kinda stronger person...

9. 3. 2011

Iloa elämään

As some of you might know, I am a member of the Postcrossing project
Today I got a card from a random user from Finland (you can notice it in the upper part of the picture). The sentence on the card says "iloa elämään" which means something like "the joy of life". It kinda inspired me... and as it was soon time for lunch, I decided to make the sentense come true. The result was this cheese-salami pizza and a huuuuuuge bowl of salad :) Nom.

Day 04 - A picture of your favorite night.

The Prague Museum Night.

A night where museums in Prague are open from 7pm till 2am for free (or some small entrance fee) and the places usually have some special actions only for this event. They sometimes even show exhibits they don't usually have available for displaying during the rest of the year.

This picture is from year 2009, in the Aviation museum in Kbely.

I have attended 3 Museum nights so far and I'm really looking forward to this year's one.
It's going to be on 11th June, so if you're in Prague around that time, become a part of the crowd and prepare for a night full of culture :)

8. 3. 2011

Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show.

John Cleese, Terry Giliam, Terry Jones, Graham Chapman, Michael Palin, Eric Idle.
Well, do I need to say more? :)

7. 3. 2011

Irony

My mom likes to complain about me that I don't study at home as much as I should.
I keep telling her I study mainly in the afternoon when I come back from school and she is still at work, because I have quiet house and nothing distracts me.

Today before I got home from school I decided I shall move on with my law lectures and when I will have the whole afternoon quiet house, I shall make advantage of it.
What was my surprise to meet mom when I came home. She said she had some days of holiday left and she needs to use them before March ends.

Okay, no problem.

But when I finally settled myself in the living room, opened all the documents I need, my mom comes with a vacuum cleaner and starts making noise and keeps moving me away "because she has to clean the carpet!"

I mean, nothing wrong with that she wants to have clean house, but I am pretty sure in next 5 minutes she comes to me and asks why am I not studying, while she would be most probably going around with a mop and cleaning the wooden floors.

I love irony.

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been close with for the longest

This was a difficult one.
I have never thought about how close I have been with people. I mean, define "be close". Everyone will imagine a different thing under it.

But after a while of thinking, I decided to post a picture of me and Hanka. We've known each other for circa 7 years now. At first we weren't that good friends, but as the time went by, we became talking about anything, we spent many nights on random and sudden late night walks over the historic part of Prague, got on sudden drinking walks and were the first ones to hear about each other's new loves or troubles.

We have done many silly things together and I believe there are more to come!

6. 3. 2011

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with fifteen facts.

I. I seem harsh, but I am not (I guess)

II.
Visiting Finland has been my dream since I was 10 years old

III. I am a huge coffee addict, but I managed to survive 10 days without having a single drop of coffee. Well, I had flu..

IV. I have probably drew over 500 single pictures of horses so far.

V. I get excited for new projects very easily and then I find it difficult to even continue in them, when I don't meet anyone as into it as I am.

VI. Sometimes I think of people I used to be so great friends with and can't understand what happened that we stopped talking and if it was entirely my fault or the other person's fault.

VII. I love watching all the "Next Top Model" projects.

VIII. About the photos I take I say they are products of a pure luck.

IX. I never tried weed and I don't want to. Because I don't need to be "cool" like that.

X. I have a lot of plans for tattoos, but no money to make them come true.

XI. When I was in elementary school, I missed nursery school. When on high school, I missed elementary school. Now when I am on another level of school, I would give everything to be back on high school, nevermind the fact I hated 90% of my class.

XII. My "art" name Asinx comes from a = sin x. The change of amplitude.

XIII. I still think I will achieve great things in the future.

XIV. I love Franz Marc's paintings.

XV. I think in movies and songs.

Those 30 day challenges are becoming kinda popular, I noticed.
Not only this photo challenge I am about to start myself, but I have seen 30 day YouTube challenge, Book challenge and a couple of more I forgot names of.

The so-called future...

...actually started yesterday.

As I got an amazing offer to have my first photography exhibition. Quite an achievement!
I shall have the exhibition 50:50 with another wonderfully talented lady in a small restaurant/pub in Prague, basically in the very center and it shall be a part of the restaurant's decoration.
The good news for the visitors and customers is, that you would be able to actually buy the stuff, for a very fair price, as I'm not a well-known photographer.. better to say a complete amateur.

Another good news might be that I shall have some kind of a "contract" with the pub to have there more exhibitions, because I have so many pictures with different topics.

Well, fair enough, isn't it? (:

Other "photo" news is that during Easter one lady is coming to Prague and some time ago, via ModelMayhem she asked me if I'll be able to do a TFP photoshoot of one of her creations, that my photography style would fit her clothes. I still need to contact her, but I find it quite promising, if we're able to agree on a date and place (and my camera would be working), I guess.. results might be nice.

So keep your fingers crossed. I would need every one of them (:
